FAQ

Get answers to some of my most frequently asked questions and learn about the design process.

What does the design process look like?

What sets you apart from other designers?

I’ve always loved creating unique spaces, but decided to become formally educated in design in 2015.  I hold a Master’s degree in Interior Design from UT-Austin’s School of Architecture and worked for several years in a commercial Architecture environment - where I learned to “dot my I’s and cross my T’s.”  I have a strong understanding of the technical part of this job - creating and reading construction drawings and working with architects and contractors.  I would classify myself as “Type A” despite being in a creative field and stick to a very methodical process to get your design across the finish line.

With that said, I love to approach every day with a bit of humor and I love to get excited about the small things in life.  I aim to keep the design process fun for both myself and my clients.

What locations do you serve?

I live and work in Austin, Tx.  This includes Westlake, Tarrytown, Bryker Woods, etc. out to Dripping Springs and the Texas Hill Country.  I’d also love to be your local touchpoint on a 2nd home project outside of Texas and will accept projects nationwide.

What does an Interior Designer cost?

This will vary depending on the size (scope) of your project and the type of design services your project requires.  Interior design is a luxury, not because it’s extravagant—but because it saves time, avoids costly mistakes, and delivers a result that’s truly personal and enduring.  When you hire a professional designer, you're not just selecting paint colors or picking furniture. You're investing in a tailored experience.  From custom kitchen layouts to curated art, from architectural detail to the smallest finishing touch, every element is chosen with intention. The result is a home that doesn’t just look good—it works beautifully, feels effortless, and reflects your unique style.

What does "Full Service" design mean?

My design services are very flexible and considered “a la carte” - but the best results will come from a holistic approach.  Ultimately, “Full Service” means that my design would envelope the whole space - including the floorplan, building materials, wall treatments, light fixtures, custom cabinetry and millwork, window treatments, furnishings, art and accessories.

If your project includes construction it is best if I’m brought on early in the process and can collaborate with the Architectural and Construction teams on the best layouts, materials and construction details.

What does it mean to be NCIDQ-certified?

NCIDQ Certification is the industry's highest standard for interior designers. Awarded by the Council for Interior Design Qualification, it proves that a designer has met rigorous education, experience, and examination requirements.

An NCIDQ-certified designer:

  • Passed a series of comprehensive exams covering everything from building codes and accessibility standards to space planning, materials, and professional ethics.

  • Demonstrates both technical knowledge and a deep understanding of health, safety, and welfare in interior spaces.

  • Is trained to handle the complexities of interior architecture, construction documents, and project coordination—especially important in renovations, custom builds, and commercial spaces.
